About Marathon Cores
Marathon Cores
Cores are upgrades that give your runner specific boosts or new behaviors. Unlike implants, cores are runner-specific, so each runner has their own pool of cores to choose from. Some cores buff your stats, others change how abilities work entirely. For example, one core might make you invisible after aiming down sights for a short time, at the cost of generating heat. There are currently 78 cores in the game spread across six runner classes. Each core has a credit cost to equip, and the effects range from subtle stat tweaks to major playstyle changes. Click any core above to see exactly what it does and which runner it belongs to.
Destroyer Cores
Destroyer cores focus on durability, barrier generation, and explosive firepower. With 14 cores available, Destroyers can spec into defensive builds with Reinforced Plating and Adaptive Barrier, or lean into aggressive plays with Missile Barrage and Explosive Payload. Destroyer cores reward players who stay in the fight and absorb pressure for their team.
Recon Cores
Recon cores enhance awareness, target tracking, and area control. The 11 available Recon cores include Advanced Tracking for wallhack-style intel, Pulse Amplifier for extended scan radius, and Echo Chamber for lingering detection zones. Recon cores are ideal for players who want to provide squad-wide intelligence and control engagements before they happen.
Assassin Cores
Assassin cores reward stealth, precision, and solo plays. Across 12 cores, Assassins can equip Ghost Protocol for extended invisibility, Shadow Strike for burst damage out of cloak, or Safe Landings for better repositioning. Assassin cores are built for flankers and ambush-focused players who strike fast and disappear.
Thief Cores
Thief cores focus on loot efficiency, backpack interactions, and speed. With 12 cores available, Thieves can optimize extraction runs with Premium Package, boost agility through Boutique (based on backpack items), or gain combat advantages via Crime Spree. Thief cores excel at turning loot-heavy raids into quick, profitable extractions.
Vandal Cores
Vandal cores boost mobility, weapon handling, and aggressive positioning. The 10 available Vandal cores include Blast Off for explosive movement, Adrenaline Rush for speed on kills, and Mechanized Holsters for faster weapon swaps. Vandal cores reward high-tempo play and constant pressure.
Triage Cores
Triage cores enhance healing, revival speed, and team support. With 12 cores available, Triage runners can equip Combat Medic for mid-fight heals, Emergency Response for faster revives, or High Voltage for offensive utility. Triage cores let support players keep their squad alive while still contributing in combat.
Universal Cores
Five cores are available to all runner classes, offering flexible options regardless of your build. Glass Cannon trades survivability for raw damage, The Big Score boosts extraction rewards, and Trophy Hunter rewards aggressive target elimination. Universal cores are the go-to pick when you want a reliable boost without class restrictions.
