Steam Gets Its Own Exclusive Weapon Charm
Bungie has revealed the first Steam exclusive cosmetic for Marathon — a Crowbar weapon charm. The Legendary-rarity charm is an unmistakable nod to Valve's iconic Half-Life series, where the crowbar has served as Gordon Freeman's signature weapon since the original game launched in 1998.
Steam players will automatically receive the Crowbar charm when Marathon launches on March 5, 2026. No additional purchase is required — it's granted simply for playing on Valve's platform.
The Crowbar Charm
The CROWBAR weapon charm is classified as Legendary rarity and is part of the Steam Exclusive Collection. It attaches to the weapon rail and is visible during gameplay, dangling from your equipped weapon as a subtle tribute to one of PC gaming's most recognizable tools.
A Nod to Half-Life
For anyone who's spent time in the Half-Life universe, the reference needs no explanation. The crowbar has been a symbol of PC gaming culture for nearly three decades — from smashing crates in Black Mesa to becoming a meme in its own right. Every Platform Now Has Its Own Exclusive Charm
With the Crowbar charm confirmed, all three platforms now have their own exclusive weapon charms ahead of Marathon's launch:
- PlayStation — Three PS Plus exclusive charms: Battle Guitar (Death Stranding 2), For Freedom (Helldivers 2), and Onryō (Ghost of Yōtei)
- Xbox — Two Minecraft-inspired charms: Emerald Catch and Emerald Clutch
- Steam — The Crowbar charm (Half-Life)
Each platform's charms pay homage to franchises closely associated with that ecosystem. PlayStation leans into its first-party catalogue, Xbox taps into Minecraft, and Steam honors the game that helped define PC gaming as we know it.
How to Get It
The Crowbar weapon charm will be automatically granted to all Steam players when Marathon launches on March 5, 2026. There is no purchase, redemption code, or battle pass tier involved — just launch the game on Steam and it's yours.
